Valley Zen Circle
Meditation and Mindfulness - Sanctuary in the Midst of Daily Life
Join our growing zen community for all or part of an evening of peaceful silent meditation in the Soto Zen style. Valley Zen Circle (VZC) is open to the public every week on Thursday evenings in the spacious lower level of Christ’s Church, 412 Clay Street in Monmouth, Oregon. (Use the west entrance from the parking lot.) Wear comfortable clothing; cushions and chairs are provided.
Our meditation group has run into some scheduling difficulties this fall. First, the Abbott at our Portland training temple, Dharma Rain Zen Center, Kyogen Carlson, died very unexpectedly in mid-September. We have been both very sad and very busy, with extra events, ceremonials and memorials to prepare for and attend.
Along with responding to Christ Church's schedule over the next two months, we took a look at our own holiday plans and found that staffing on Thursdays will be a challenge. Instead of canceling some dates and keeping others, we've decided to go back on hiatus for all of November and December. Not a happy thought but probably one that will save confusion.
So...I hope this decision will not inconvenience anyone and we will resume our Thursday evening practice on January 8th and begin a conversation about the Heart Sutra.
Have a good holiday season and we hope to see you in January.
See the Schedule of Events here for details.
All seekers are invited to join the conversation.
