Valley Zen Circle
Meditation and Mindfulness - Sanctuary in the Midst of Daily Life
Valley Zen Circle (VZC) is a small group meeting weekly in the home of one of our Dallas members. The evening begins peacefully at 5:30pm with silent meditation in the Soto Zen style. Our group members come from various faith and meditation traditions.
The Wednesday evening schedule begins with meditation at 5:30pm and continues with a reading together and discussion of "A Fearless Heart" by Thupten Jinpa, PhD. Jinpa has been the principal English translator tothe Dalai Lama for neaarly thirty years. He is chairman of the Mind and Life Institute.
Please call 503.623.8600 for information.
See the Schedule of Events here for details.
We are reading from A Fearless Heart: How the Courage to Be Compassionate Can Transform Our Lives. (This link should lead to Amazon's page for the book.) Looking at compassion can inform our practice as individuals but the author also looks deeply at our relationships to others. A Fearless Heart focuses on the cultivating the ability to identify suffering, let empathy arise, and then, we have the inclination to do something about that with which we face in our everyday lives.
During our study of "A Fearless Heart," we have shortened our meditation time to one round in order to have more time for discussion.
